Origin

The Red Delicious was found in 1870s in Iowa by a farmer named Jesse Hiatt. He chopped the unwanted seedling down twice before he finally let it grow!

Fun Fact

Red Delicious is the most widely grown apple variety in the United States. About 62 million bushels were harvested in the year 2005 alone. That’s the weight of nearly 50,000 military tanks!
